David Miller, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand/wrist and upper extremity surgery. He has been practicing orthopaedics at Town Center Orthopaedic Associates in Reston and Centreville, Virginia, since 2001.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Miller was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society as a junior, an honor reserved for the top 2% of his medical class. Following graduation, he continued advanced training in orthopaedic surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, a teaching hospital of the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. As a chief resident during his senior year, he was exposed to numerous complex cases.
After his residency, Dr. Miller went on to complete a fellowship, subspecializing in hand/wrist and upper extremity surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand (CAQSH).
Dr. Miller is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and often lectures in the community on hand and wrist topics. As a specialist in surgery of the hand, wrist, and upper extremity, his practice is primarily focused on nerve problems, arthritic conditions, and traumatic injuries. He believes in a team-oriented approach to treatment, which often involves physical and occupational therapists to maximize the functional outcomes for his patients. Town Center Orthopaedic Associates has a certified hand therapist on staff, which enables Dr. Miller to work closely with his patients during their recovery.
Dr. Miller has been voted by his colleagues as one of the “Top Doctors in Hand Surgery” by the Washingtonian Magazine. In addition, he was named “Top Surgeon in Hand and Wrist Surgery” by the Consumers Research Council of America. Dr. Miller previously served as the hand and wrist consultant for the Washington Glory, a professional fastpitch softball team.
